Maybe they did preserve more than they destroy. But they could have preserved them just as well without having to convert them. Or they could have just minded their own business and let the Pagans themselves preserve their temples.
Ha ha. Again, I'm not defending Catholicism. They definitely were not interested in preserving other peoples' cultures and beliefs--exactly the opposite, in fact. All I'm saying is, I prefer the practice of taking over a building, to burning it to the ground like the Vikings did.
xD Yeah, I guess you're right there. In the Vikings' defense though, they were usually careful enough to kill everyone inside and steal all things of worth before they burned the buildings to the ground.
